Lillians Room

Hey Hey everyone!! I am so excited to share this post! I have been working on Lillians room for what seems like a very very very long time! This room as gone through so many changes in the five years we have lived in this house. It started out as a room with just an Ikea bed in it to have for guests to sleep. Then we added a giant L shaped desk to make it more of a guest room/office. (what a mess that was!) Eventually when Jane was old enough we turned that room into a bedroom for both of them. Y'all I had rearranged that room SO many times in every which way I could. When we found out I was pregnant with Charlotte I decided that I really wanted to give Lillian her own space. I wanted her to have a room that she loved. A room that she felt comfortable to come to when she needed time to herself. We have had so much fun picking out all the things and putting it together!

The first thing we bought was Lillians new bed! Now that is a funny story. I had opened the box and there was only the headboard. I knew that wasn't all that was supposed to come with it! I knew that I bought an entire bed and not just a headboard. I called customer service and she was like "Yeah we get this all the time. Behind the headboard is a zipper and the rest of the bed is inside of it." So if you ever order a bed from Wayfair here is a heads up just in case!

Lillian loves reading. Its pretty much all she does every free second she has, so it was really important to have a little reading corner for her. I think its one of my favorite corners of the house! I also love the picture part of that wall. Just some string and some clothes pins and you have a cute and simple way to hang some pictures. All her pictures are of her family and friends.

I have found that taking closet doors off the kids room has been amazing. It makes the space so much more open and keeps the doors from getting broken.

Every time I walk into her bedroom I am just in love. Lillian is always just laying in her bed or in her chair reading. I love giving her this space. Next up is Janes room! Hopefully giving Jane her own space like this will get her out of her sisters bed lol!!

Charlottes Nursery

Well here we are almost one year later and I'm finally getting around to writing about Charlottes nursery. You guys this is my absolute favorite room in the house! The lighting that comes through the window makes everything so bright and beautiful. It's really amazing to me how a person can have such a big change in the way they like things to be decorated. The difference between Lillians nursery and Charlottes is insane. I feel like I've grown so much as a person in the last six years and I just want to create these beautiful rooms for my sweet girls to enjoy. I also love a good excuse to go to target and shop online.

Play Room

Hey Hey everyone!!! Notice anything new on the blog? Probably not cause I've only written like two things. For those of you who don't follow my social media account we made a pretty big announcement that we're having our third baby!! So the new thing that I'm talking about would be the name change to Three Little Moons.

I wanted to get on here and chat about our play room. It used to be my least favorite room in the house. There were so many toys everywhere and our old nasty couch was the first thing you would see when you walked through the front door. It was awful! After our little remodel it has become my absolute favorite room in the house!

y'all it was so awful!!!!! 

Everyone who knows me knows how much I dislike toys. Especially toys that take over the room. The first thing we did was go through every single one of them and get rid of everything they didn't play with or that was broken. We had so many little McDonalds toys and random puzzle pieces everywhere. I went straight to target and bought a shelf,ten bins and little containers that would house all their crayons and all the video game controllers and remotes. I had it set in my head that if it didn't fit in the bins that it would have to go.  My girls really aren't ones to sit and play with toys, so this really wasn't an issue.The one big toy that they had (their fisher price doll house) ended up in their room so it wasn't taking up any unnecessary room.

When I pictured a play room I wanted a space that the kids could go and have their own place to play or watch their own shows, because lets be real I hate watching cartoons. We also have all the video games in the play room so the living room tv can be used to actually watch tv. The girls also have their little table where they can color and do whatever it is that they want to do with it. Its a complete mess and stained with marker. One day I will tackle that project. I was also looking for an idea as to how to display their artwork and trusty pinterest had just the thing. I took some string and some cute little clothes pins I found in the target dollar section and made a cute little line to hang their stuff up.

The last two projects that we did in this room to really top it off were the coffee table and knocking out that nasty 1980s railing between the front room and the dining room. Some of our really good friends gave us their old coffee table to redo. The finished product is most definitely my favorite project we've ever done and it really made all the difference in the room.

We used the rustoleum cabinet kit to paint the bottom because it would've been to much of a pain to sand it. The top of the table was sanded so it could be stained and the girls picked out new knobs at hobby lobby to finish it off.

                                                                                        

  

      Remember that railing I was talking about. (You can see it in picture one) Yup it's long gone and it looks SO much better!!!  The girls really love that they can run right through there. As you can see our room really went through an awesome transformation and I love just sitting in there with the girls. I love that they have a room that they can call their own and that it is easy to keep organized!

Vacation to the Keys

Hey y'all! So yesterday was my first day in the new part of my strenght training class and oh boy am I feeling it! I have been out of the gym four over two weeks between vacation and coming down with Pneumonia. I can barely lift my hands over my head so I figured what a perfect time to finally catch up the AMAZING vacation we just got back from. It's also an excuse not to do the four loads of laundry I have. (why is it never ending?)

Anyways.... I think we were gone for a total of eleven days. Five of those were spent driving. Now I don't wanna brag or anything, but my kids are total rockstars when it comes to traveling. The drive was about seventeen hours without any traffic. Im pretty sure they only asked the "are we there yet" question like ten times.Seriously though they were so fantastic which is great cause it was just me and them doing this crazy drive and I wouldn't have been able to do it if it wasn't for our awesome friends who let us stay with them. We love y'all!!

When we finally made it to Marathon Key I don't think we were there for more than ten minutes before the girls ran upstairs and changed into their bathing suits and begged to go to the beach. (I don't blame them it is still practically winter in VA)

Our first full day we went to visit our friends work and hangout with all her cool friends. You guys her friends are dolphins! She works at the Dolphin Research Center and it was the coolest experience. All the dolphins were out in salt water pods and we could've sat there and just watched them swim around and play all day long. The girls got to hangout with a dolphin named Pax. They got to paint tee shirts and play with him and he would bring them a ring to throw for him so he could bring it back. They also got to give him hand signals to make him jump out of the water like the trainers do. I think this is something they will never forget.



You guys I'm totally writing this two weeks later. oops! Sometimes we just get SO busy and I forget that I need to take some time to just sit here and relax and finish things that I was doing. (Like laundry lol) And I'm going to apologize right now for the layout of the pictures. I have no idea how to get them side by side. I try to do the HTML coding and sometimes I can get it to work and sometimes I can't and it really just upsets me.

Monday, Tuesday,Thursday and Friday we spent all day at the beach and the pool.The girls are getting to that age that they can just hang out and I can relax. Let me tell you it is so nice!! The first beach we went to was called coco plum beach. I still to this day can't get over how beautiful and blue that water was! For the first two hours we had the entire beach to ourselves and the water was so calm. There were lots of trees around for the girls to explore in and they loved finding the biggest rocks they could to make a little sand fort with. The rest of the week we went to Sombrero beach.This beach was more of a tourist beach, but we would get there early and get the best spot to set up. I think this was the girls favorite spot to be. They had swings and on one day we were there the water is so flat that they didn't get out for three hours!

Wednesday was our only day we didn't spend outside. We were all so red and we just really needed a day out of the sun. I took the girls to check out Aquarium Encounters. This place was awesome! We got to feed turtles and sting rays. They had all kinds of touch tanks that the girls could go and explore. Their favorites were the sting rays and starfish. I had never even seen a starfish before so I thought that was pretty neat. The girls really wanted to feed the sharks, but I thought the little animals were enough lol.

Saturday was by far my absolute favorite day! A few weeks before we left for Marathon I was on pinterest and I saw something called The Dry Tortugas. The second I saw it I texted my friend and told her that we had to got there! Its one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen.We had to wake up at 5:30 am and drive down to Key West to catch the ferry to get to the island. It took us about two and a half hours to get there. We would get to the island around ten am and leave around three pm. Lillian and I got a little sea sick, so we couldn't wait to get off the boat but once we got there we were in love. We spent most of our time snorkeling and the girls got to come out deep with us and see all the fish and wildlife. Ive never seen them have so much fun before. It was such a wonderful last day and it wore them out, which was fantastic because we had a nine hour drive back home the next day.I can't thank everyone enough who made this trip possible! It is one we will never forget!

Behavior Chart

Hey Hey y'all! Im back and I've made some changes to the blog, well actually it's an entire new blog. Lets be real I haven't been on my blog since Lillian was like nine months old. Sometimes life just gets in the way and since we have added kid since then things got a little busy. I decided to start it up again because I loved having all those posts to look back on and because posting on all my social media accounts about my kids just isn't enough lol.

With the girls being three (I just wrote two. Why is she getting so big?) and almost five I decided to make them a reward chart. I think that it is very important for them to see visually how they are behaving. We've had a few problems lately with the NO being thrown around and I am just not a fan anymore. I think that if they can see how they are behaving and that they are being rewarded for acting like polite little girls that it may help with the attitude. (fingers crossed)

The three categories that I decided to put in the charts were the ones that they are struggling with.
1) Listening to mom and dad- I can't count how many times a day that we have to say things over and over or in a raised voice. If they listen the first time around they get to put a sticker on their chart.
2) Eat all of your dinner- You guys! I think this is the biggest struggle. Mostly with Jane. I don't want to be making separate dinners anymore. What we make will be the only thing made and if they can eat everything that is put on their plates they can have a sticker.
3) Chores- This isn't really a problem area for the girls, but I feel that they should be rewarded for doing the these things around the house. Each of them share the same chores with one exception that Lillian puts away her own laundry. I don't quite trust Jane with that yet. Their chores include feeding the dogs, making their beds (but really its one bed because Jane sleeps with her sister lately) helping with the dishwasher and the biggest one of all is cleaning the toy room when FIRST asked. I have a feeling that that line will be the last one filled up.

It took me awhile to decide how many blocks I wanted them to have to fill. I wanted them to know they would be rewarded for the good work they were doing, but I didn't want it to be an instant thing. They need to know that you can't just do something a few times and it's okay. I want them to actually have to work for the things they want. When the chart is filled 100% they get to go to the store and choose anything they want. (within a good price range) I can't wait to see how this goes! The boards are already hung up and the girls are already excited to get started. If you're interested you can keep up on my Instagram stories to see how they are doing! :)

Supplies: 

• I used the black foam poster board. I think it looks cleaner since they will be put up in our kitchen. 
• Metallic Sharpies
• Stencils
• I didn't have a ruler (as you can probably tell) so I highly suggest one. Although even with a ruler my lines would probably still look like that.
• We're going to try out these foam stickers. Im hoping they will come off clean so these boards can be reused. I was going to use felt and velcro, but turns out velcro is very expensive.
